Do not push God…

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9

Do not push God.

Do not shove Him, back Him into a corner, or otherwise throw your own measly weight at Him.  You will lose – and lose big – while missing out on the best He has to offer those who wait.  Yes.  It’s true.  The best truly does come for those who do WAIT.

Impatient?  Think you have the best answers?  Think your solution is the ultimate, and… what IS God waiting for anyway????  Life is short!  I want it, I need it, and the best time for it is… NOW??

Sure.  You can push.  You CAN shove.  But you won’t get anywhere fast, except into a big state of frustration.  Even if you get what you think you want, if it’s not from God, you will absolutely hate life because it’s not His fullness intended for you.

Sooooooo… why spin your wheels??  There IS a better way, even if it’s not necessarily easier.

Instead… Sit back.  Relax.  Enjoy the journey of today, as you walk the path God has laid out for you.  He has things for you to learn today, wherever you are and whatever “life” is around you at the moment.  End of your rope?  Think you have to do this and that now or, “better” yet, that GOD Himself is leading you to do something?  Better check His Word!  Yes, He promises to provide for those who follow His leading by faith, but is it really HIS leading?  When it is, you’ll know.  The door will open wide for you to go through.  Don’t over-analyze or scrutinize the fine points when you know it’s God leading – just go.

Typically “common sense” doesn’t play well into God’s leading, because His world is not limited by this existance.  His realm is limitless and pure, so whatever is led by any sort of worldly desires is typically NOT His real will anyway.  Anything that leads to any reason for pride or being looked upon as anything great is not God’s best.  He will be the focus of glory and, anytime we get in the way in any way to rob that glory, it’s not of God or for God.  To GOD be the GLORY – great things HE has done.  SOLI DEO GLORIA.

Does that mean I abandon all sense of prudence and discernment and just jump off a cliff without abandon or sense of reasonableness in respect of God’s natural laws?  No.  God gave us a brain to use.  His Word tells us that we must “count the cost”, not borrow to spend, be responsible to authority and to “render unto Ceasar” what is due.  Don’t make pledges, don’t commit without having the resources to fulfill, and don’t twist God’s written Word to fit your thought process.  There’s a balance to be had, understanding that we reflect God’s image in all of our decisions of life.  Don’t be afraid to not listen to what others legalistically share as gospel.  Don’t be afraid to follow what you know to be the Holy Spirit’s leading, regardless of anyone else’s perspective or perception.

Don’t put words into God’s mouth, or you may end up being the one to eat them…
