If you can’t say something nice…

don’t say nothin’ at all. ~ Thumper, to Bambi

I cringe when I hear a put down.  So much of today’s media has become a series of disrespectful digs and pokes to cut others down – and has become an encouragement for anyone and everyone to do likewise. Why do people have to be so sarcastic, so cutting, so in control, so… “better than thou…”?  Is it…

Pride?
Desire for control?

And what does reveal about… heart? ♥

Where is the L♥VE?  Don’t the feelings of others even matter anymore?

Why the SPEWing – CUTting – HURTing – and then saying… “Just kidding…!!!” :}  Don’t we realize that once words are spoken, there IS no going back, and once we stab someone in the back… the KNIFE REMAINS???  NO KIDDING!!!!

Yes… we… me too… and this is something I am making a firm commitment to put a stop to.

I’ve had enough of people being hurt – and being the one holding the knife.  As I’ve been stabbed I’ve realized – I’ve stabbed.  I’ve dealt the blows “in fun”… but was it?  Ha!  NO. It’s NOT fun, it’s NOT funny, and I don’t want to do it.  NO more.

Consider with me…

> Are we practicing “random acts of kindness” – or rudeness?

> Are we speaking words that heal – or hurt?

> Are we building up others – or cutting them down?

> Do we embrace – or exclude – with our words or actions?

What does God’s Word say about how and what we communicate?  A LOT!

Communication is a vital tool to spread the joy of God’s grace.  Are WE effective communicators of that grace when we speak out in ways that are self-righteous, self-focused, or self-ANYTHING?  I can answer that question with a hearty… NO.

Ephesians 4:25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

Proverbs 26:18-19 Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I am only joking!”

Proverbs 17:28 Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.

Proverbs 16:24 Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and wealth to the body.

Proverbs 24:17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles…

and…

in conclusion…

How SHOULD we communicate?

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

… whatever is TRUE…

NO KIDDING!!
