O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You discern my thoughts from far away. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, O LORD, You know it completely. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot attain it.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
In our town, there is an Irish parade to celebrate the wearing of the green and the happiness of the season: SPRING starts in less than a week! 🙂
The old saying, “everybody loves a parade” seems to hold true at festive times of the year and – in the middle of this celebration of life – do you wish you could see the what’s coming up and not just what’s already passed by? Do you ever feel the frustration of not being able to see the entire “parade” ahead? Do you feel like you’re stuck in the middle and can’t WAIT to see what’s coming up next? *straining neck*
Welcome to normalcy. Ah… the frustration of being HUMAN!
And, as you read this, maybe while marching down your own parade route you feel like you’ve stepped in a mud puddle because you’ve made a mistake or put your foot down in a wrong spot. What a mess I’m in right now! *sigh!*
Maybe life has thrown you a curve ball and you feel like you’re being kicked out of the parade: an illness, a catastrophe, a job layoff.
I know that statement can become a Sunday School cliche and a pat answer for every challenge of life. I know it can lose its profound impact simply through replication and repetition but…
Hear me out:
Imagine your parade of life – and the entire parade of life as it spans the ages. From the dawn of creation to the completion of time. Imagine. WOW.
Imagine God, on the throne, high above it all yet holding it all in the palm of His Almighty hand. WOW.
Imagine as God “looks down” and sees this parade – the parade He planned and has total control of. Imagine as He sees the Grand Master of the parade stepping out to begin the festivities. Imagine the lead band, the initial candy-tossers, the pomp-and-circumstance and the unfolding as the parade BEGINS!
Imagine GOD, as He sees the floats, the marchers, the baton twirlers, the clowns, the jugglers – all the participants in this parade of life. Imagine as the entire parade is before His view, from the lead to the broom-pusher at the very end. He can see it all from His VIP stand above, and He watches carefully as He sees…
ALL of it – including your part in the spectrum of life. Your piece of the action. Your place in the parade that He planned before the beginning of time. He knows and He see your role in His plan. His purpose for YOU is already planned, and He knows where you are in your own parade of life.
Maybe your footstep at the present moment isn’t light and the smile isn’t brightly plastered across your face because you’ve encountered an unfortunate and untimely curve in your parade route? GOD KNOWS. He sees you – He loves you – and He has your route entirely planned ahead.
LOOK UP in faith. Look up at the “Parade Coordinator” – our Almighty Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. March on. The parade will continue – for His glory. 🙂
